( STARS CDC M.S.U. Director, Mr. Marcus Rutledge Jr, as he concluded in painting the Welcome post.)
This past winter, youth within STARS CDC, in partnership with Youth Eternal , successfully conducted think tanks, researched community gardens nationwide and wrote two separate YNAPP community grants entitled the S.T.A.Y.E. GARDEN and The S.T.A.Y.E. STAGE. These youth were rewarded for there diligence and hard work by being presented with awards during a televised City Council meeting!

The Tonopah Garden which is spearheaded by Rosalind Brooks, 42, has started to bloom on five acres of donated land at the Tonopah Community Garden, 711. N. Tonopah Dr. near Bonanza Road and Rancho Drive. The youth through the garden project are learning about science and agriculture. Keionte Scott (12) stated, “ It is amazing to have planted a seed, nurtured it by removing weeds, and see greens, cotton and even carrots grow.” The STAYE Stage piece offers the youth an opportunity to learn hands on trades such as welding and carpentry, in which math and engineering are emphasized and creatively taught.
The purpose of these joint project is to engage the community through educating them on what the youth are learning and the importance of community service by donating the produce via the garden project and also hosting showcases, bible study groups and other productions once the amphitheater ( STAYE stage) is finalized.
Please come out and volunteer! Just tell Rosalyn S.T.A.R.S. sent you!
